When Silly Things Gets Right ✔️

Suh Fam!

Watching the news is kind of boring, right? Let us try making news full of entertainment, fun, and drama. Introducing Never News, “Hum Aapke Sath Nahi, Hum Aapke Baad Nahi.” Never News was a project where we connected audiences to humorous news that would make our viewers giggle. Never news is based on a belief system that says

Vision

We tried to create something which has never been done before. Never News Vision is to light up the moods of our audiences. We were committed to covering mostly good and positive things that take place on social media platforms.

What was the idea behind Never News?

A group of friends thought of creating a news channel that reflects the Gen Z thinking process of taking everything nonserious. Never news will make you think that news can be funnier and exciting by adding a pinch of drama. Our mentor Mr. Riyaz Saiyed encouraged us to go ahead with this idea and added his input at every stage.

What were the challenges faced during Never News?

 Script

As freshers, we faced problems while writing scripts. The writer thought of the anchor’s character as being too self-obsessed and dramatic. Our script was never up to point and finally, after making a lot of changes the script was finalized. There was no script for the debate section of the Never News, so the actors had to improvise their own dialogues while shooting. And must say they were Fab!!!! The debate session was the funniest part of our Never News project.

Actors

Actors are the main element of any viewable content. It was very difficult to make actors feel comfortable with the camera, with extra lighting, retakes, not looking at the camera, delivering lines on time, perfect comic timing, holding characters, rehearsals, and the list goes on and on. Believe us it is not easy on both sides. But our actors were highly motivated and persisted forward toward completing our shoot. Their enthusiasm and dedication made this shoot complete.

Lights

Setting proper light is a very crucial task in the shooting. Managing lights was a real hustle because we were shooting on a green screen. It was a bit challenging to blend the scene in post-production. Managing lights according to their skin tone to make them camera-ready and green spillage.

Green screen video edit

Adding a green screen was a new thing to explore as this was our first time. We had to reshoot the whole movie again as while editing we came across a problem when removing the green screen there was noise across the whole screen because the green screen color we used wasn’t the right color. @riyazgsaiyed Sir was back in town to the rescue again and guided us with the right color of green screen which was Hex color value: #00b140.

Color correction

Color correction was a completely new part we were working on.
Everyone was becoming either 🤢Hulk or 👾Thanos 🤣. Color correction was a part where we actually got to know how to manage colors according to their backgrounds. The biggest problem was blending the actors and the scene together.

Setting up the scene

The problems we faced while setting up the scene were the size of the table, background set, the color of the background, height, and position of the chair, hand placement, adjusting the size of anchors according to the scene, etc. We had to change the background so that it wouldn’t distract the audience.

Audio

We made a DIY Boom Mic which was made out of a phone attached to a selfie stick. While shooting there was some unwanted noise which was also recorded so we had to dub it again.

Folder and Naming Hierarchy

The epic quest of our project completion was battling the elusive missing files! Turns out, our files were pulling a Houdini act in random folders, playing hide-and-seek. File organization and who sorted it later is the not so unsung heroes i.e. @Harshada, Akash, and Gaurav in our editing adventures!
